Jo joined the Saunders Unsworth team in 2012 and has over 35 years experience as a public relations practitioner. Over that time she has worked with diverse organisations and honed a very broad base of communications skills underpinned by a strong commercial perspective.

Starting out in applied research consultancy Jo went on to expand her skill base in consumer and investor communications as a consultant with Network Communications. She was subsequently appointed to the role of corporate communications director for Aoraki Corporation (now Jade Corporation) a Christchurch-based information technology business, where for a ten-year period Jo managed the Group public relations and marketing communications activities in New Zealand, Australia and the United States.  

Prior to joining Saunders Unsworth Jo ran her own public relations consultancy in Marlborough, with clients ranging from a confederacy of top of the South Island iwi, and the local port and electricity supply companies, to New Zealand’s largest privately owned vineyard.   The success of her consultancy over the past decade is testament to Jo’s ability to work alongside clients; telling their stories in ways that enhance their business success.

Jo has a BA Hons in Psychology and is a graduate of the NZIM Advanced Management programme. She holds several public relations industry awards and has been a Fellow of PRINZ since 1998.  

She has an adult daughter.  Outside of work she somehow finds time to play the occasional game of golf.
